In this tour of the cultures that produced the Bible the authors understand the Bible on its own terms. They have updated it with with insights drawn from the most recent archaeological and linguistic research, notably, the recovery of ancient Elba in the 1970s, the first fragments of inscriptions referring to David extrabiblically and new evidence relating to the Exodus from Egypt.
