Twin from Another Tribe, Revised Edition: The Story of Two Shamanic Healers in Africa and North America

This is an intimate portrait of the lives of two men from different corners of the globe drawn together in their journey to become ngangas, or traditional healers in Bantu African medicine. Though one is Mexican-American and the other is South Central African, both have surprisingly similar backgrounds. Both battle inner and outer demons as they work through the call to become shaman. Their training culminates upon meeting one another and discovering that each is the other's mapatya, or spiritual twin. Their story uncovers the spiritual roots of illness and brings into question the cold and impersonal way the infirm are often treated in hospitals in this country, in a manner devoid of spirit. Their message is one of religious and cultural pluralism, healing, and peace.
