This book describes the technology of freeze-drying with particular emphasis on the properties of the material to be processed, pre-freezing (formulation) and post-drying (stability and shelf life). Materials science principles of glasses, as applied to the study of dried, mainly protein-based biopharmaceuticals and analytical methods are also covered.
