Northern Forest Canoe Trail: Great North Woods: New Hampshire, Connecticut River to Umbagog Lake (Northern Forest Canoe Trail)

With these new maps, 11 of the 13 trail sections are now complete on the Northeast’s 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail, an all-new recreation amenity within a day’s drive or less of 70 million possible users.

Great North Woods: New Hampshire, Connecticut River to Umbagog Lake (trail section 7): Travel three rivers through the New Hampshire section of the Trail: the Connecticut, Upper Ammonoosuc and Androscoggin (65 miles total) through the Great North Woods on the northern edge of the highest mountains in the northeast (the Presidential Range of the White Mountains). The Great North Woods remains sparsely settled and sliding down the Connecticut River between the shores of Vermont and New Hampshire you’ll enjoy the solitude of Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge. In addition to the natural beauty of the route, there are a number of quaint, historic towns on these rivers that serve as places to visit, eat and spend a night or two.
