British Silver at Temple Newsam and Lotherton Hall

This is the first complete and fully illustrated catalogue of British silver belonging to a public art museum to have been published since the Second World War. Temple Newsam and Lotherton Hall, which house the decorative art collections belonging to Leeds City Art Galleries, have long been famous for their paintings, furniture, ceramics, wallpapers and textiles. The British silver consists of over 200 superb objects dating between Elizabethan and modern times, and acquired by purchase, gift or bequest.

The catalogue aims to present a detailed record of all that is known about individual objects including design sources, authorship and provenance, as well as discussing the context within which they are made.
