Appalachia: As I Remember It

This is basically a true rendition of events, as I remember them, that occured while I grew up in the hills of southeastern Kentucky during the late 1930’s and early 40’s. Some of the supporting characters are fictional, but the core families of Grandma and Grandpa, Mom and Dad, and Reverend and Mrs. Deaton are true to life.

It is offered as a supplement to historical data--a personal testimony to give pause to pre-conceived notions about desolation and feelings of total despair among the mountaineer people.
