This portfolio of reports tells how Cobb's 1947 Land Speed Record 394 mph still stood in 1963, but was soon broken by Donald Campbell in the wheel-driven Proteus Bluebird. Then entered the jet-powered contenders Goldenrod, Spirit of America, Green Monster, Blue Flame, Thrust 2, and finally Andrew Green in Thrust SSC which saw the record standing at 763 mph at the end of the century.
