Product Description:
Though he is gracious in his interaction with our Dispensational brethren, Gary George is relentless in his marshalling of biblical evidence to demonstrate that OT promises concerning another prophet, priest, king, covenant and temple are gloriously fulfilled in Christ and His church. Deft handling of Scriptures, succinct writing style, and a Christ-centred hermeneutic are the marks of this helpful booklet which made me glad to be a child of God in the new covenant era. I appreciated the book and found it helpful. Actually, I found it exhilarating. Carl Muller, Pastor, Trinity Reformed Baptist Church, Burlington, Ontario Gary George has written a helpful work to show beautifully how all of Scripture leads us to our glorious Redeemer, our Lord Jesus Christ. He shows the errors of an older, yet still popular Dispensationalism, which fragments the unity of Scripture and more importantly, obscures how the Old Testament is fulfi lled in Christ. By investigating five crucial OT themes which fi nd their fulfi llment in Christ—temple, priest, king, prophet, covenant—he shows convincingly how the coming of Christ and the entire New Covenant era is precisely what the Old Testament has been anticipating and pointing to, without the need for positing a still yet future fulfi llment of Old Testament promises. Rather in the coming of Christ and his triumphant cross and resurrection, our Lord has fulfilled all of the expectations of the Old Testament and inaugurated the last days even as we await the consummation of these days in his glorious return. I highly recommend this helpful work. Truly a delight to! read as it is centered in Christ and Him alone. Steve Wellum, Professor of Theology, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
