In recent years concrete has re-emerged as a prime building material, highly rated amongst architects - in particular the younger generation - because of its sculptural qualities and range of textures. This book provides a systematic overview of concrete's applications, illustrated by an inspiring selection of some 25 significant international projects, including David Chipperfield's Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames, Ben van Berkel's Moebius House, Carme Pinos & Enric Miralles' school building in Morella and Sir Norman Foster's Social Science Centre in Oxford. David Bennett is a trained civil engineer and practising architect based near London. He is a consultant in the field of concrete building and author of many publications on architecture and construction.
